چکیده

The study was conducted to evaluate the rumen characteristics and thermo physiological response of West African Dwarf goats fed pineapple waste cassava peel concentrate in Anyigba, Kogi State. Twelve growing with average weight 4-5±0.05 kg approximately 4 6 months age were randomly allotted four (4) dietary treatments three animals per treatment a Completely Randomized Design. rations 50% ensiled + concentrate, 60% 40% 70% 30% 80% 20% respectively. Rumen fluid collected from at end 60 days feeding trial. data pH, ammonia nitrogen, acetic acid, butyric propionic acid total volatile fatty acids (TVFA). Results obtained indicated that parameters; TVFA, nitrogen not significantly different (p>0.05) among except pH acid. Bacteria count influenced by while protozoa fungi (p<0.05) higher values 60:40 80:20 inclusion levels. result thermo-physiological showed rectal temperature observed ranged between 32.27 38.65°C. Supplemented group ration had highest than other treatments. pulse rate 63.25 77.75 beats minute whereby also (77.75 /min). It can be concluded supplements diets Goat has potential for optimum ecology no detrimental effect on health status goats. Therefore, supplementation level levels could used as an alternative feed material diet WAD improved ecology.

Hematological and serum biochemical indices of West African dwarf goats with foreign body rumen impaction.

Hematological and biochemical parameters were determined in 82 West African Dwarf goats with foreign body rumen impaction (FBR) and 40 normal WAD goats without foreign body rumen impaction (WFBR) in order to evaluate their influence on the etio-pathogenesis of rumen impaction. The mean PCV (26.22%), RBC (9.03 X 106/µL), Hb (8.38g/dl) and MCHC (32.20g/dl) were significantly lower in FBR than in ...

Influence of naturally unilateral cryptorchidism on the histomorphometry of the testes and daily sperm production in West African Dwarf goats

Quantitative histology of the descended testis of unilateral cryptorchid bucks was compared with testis of normal bucks to evaluate the reproductive potentials of the scrotal testis in unilateral cryptorchids, using light microscopy techniques. The contralateral scrotal testes of the unilateral cryptorchids and the testes of the normal bucks contained profiles of seminiferous epithelium and eac...
